Since 2008, Miami based Devine Disorder Records has gained a solid reputation of merciless label thanks to a hard dancefloor electro sound injected in about forty releases. Yet Dwellz and R21's imprint surprised last month with the second chapter of its AR series, a collection of fresh outputs gathering together electronica jewels and home listening beauties.
Direct follow up to the Alternate Realities (DDR 011) published in 2009, this refine chill out electro breaks E.P. features some of DD's most regular signatures. Alternating between deep and percussive moments, the digital pack opens with Dave Mott aka R21's emotive "The Forest". Dave offers here a moody delivery of spaced out melodies over instrumental programming and lazy beats. Ace!
From the synthetic atmosphere of Pip Williams cutting edge "I Won't Let You Go" to the eerie aesthetics of Dwellz's intriguing "Infected System", passing through the relaxing groove of Diamond Back Kid's straightforward electro "Tranquility", "Alternate Realities 2" maintains the listener's attention awaken till the last stands.
Switching from one musical register to another in a perfect harmony, the compilation is characterized by a stripped down yet organic sound throughout. Dexterous Numerics "Electric Reflections" keeps this similar minimalistic approach, serving up a wonderful jam enhanced with sparse analog melodies and sweet modulations.
Finally Magnetic Bass Force's "Can You Feel It" closes the compilation on a darker note over futuristic touches. Grade A to Grow's fantastic "Moving To Arboria", a sensitive downtempo/breaks piece made of chilling strings, subtle mechanical bests and beautiful synth melodies. "Alternate Realities 2" offers cool electro vibes and a solid addition to the DDR catalogue of releases. Highly recommended.
